Cycling has suffered from bad marketing for several decades in many parts of the world. Now, more than ever, cities are trying to reinstate the bicycle as a feasible and respectable transport form. Building secure, separated infrastructure in the form of cycle tracks has long been established as Best Practice but marketing is the all-important key to behavourial change in a population.

Here's a rundown of how various cities around the world are marketing cycling.

You probably already know Mikael Colville-Andersen, whom we are glad to welcome in our Club (see L'équipe Chronos). Among his different "hats" (read our paper on Copenhagen), he's a famous blogger : Copenhagenize.com and Copenhagen Cycle Chic focus on biking, and you'll see, if you're not already convinced, this is a whole world! We'll make you read some of these papers on a monthly basis.
Mikael Colville-Andersen will also participate to the 18th Congress of Le Club des Villes et Territoires Cyclables in La Rochelle on the 8th of October : "vélo = liberté, égalité, fraternité !" (book your seat!)
